If you’ve spent time on Pinterest or Instagram lately, you’ve probably noticed just how crowded the food content space has become. New blogs and accounts seem to pop up daily.
But when you actually click through, something feels off. The ingredient lists don’t make sense, the instructions are confusing, and the portions? Wildly off. You start to wonder, has this person ever stepped foot in a kitchen?
That’s because a lot of the time, they haven’t.
Many of these new “food blogs” are auto-generated by AI tools pulling together content for clicks. And while I love technology (and yes, I use AI for a few things!), it’s also making the food blogging world a bit… noisier.
So how do we cut through the noise? By staying human.
The Rise of the Fake Chef Blog
AI-generated content is here to stay. Some of it’s harmless—even helpful. But in the food world? It’s not a great fit. These are recipes written by algorithms, with no context, no cultural roots, and no actual taste testing. Flavor development isn’t something AI can do (or should try to).
So it can be easy to feel a little disheartened when you see Google ranking a “10-Minute Birria” from a site that clearly doesn’t know the cultural roots or complexity of the dish.
Storytelling is Still Your Superpower
What can’t be replicated? Your voice. Your family stories. Your abuela’s wisdom. The smell of tamales steaming in your kitchen on Christmas Eve.
Your personal memories and your cultural insights, your stained recipe notes in the margins—those are the things that keep your content alive, unique, and valuable. Don’t be afraid to add more you into your blog posts. That’s where the magic is.
When I share my mom’s tuna salad recipe, it’s not just about ingredients. It’s about summer lunches, family tradition, and my mom’s signature twist. That’s the stuff readers remember, and why they keep coming back.
Culture Can’t Be Copied
Food isn’t just food. It’s history, identity, and community.
You can’t train an algorithm on lived experience. You can’t replace someone’s relationship to masa, to mole, or to a specific way of making arroz con leche.
This is where food bloggers with roots—and stories—shine. Share the context. Honor your lineage. Explain how to make a dish and why it matters.
Whether it’s a one-pot comfort food or a celebration meal, when your recipe comes from real life, it goes beyond the trends, it connects.
Keep Evolving, But Stay Grounded
It’s okay to embrace technology. Use it to your advantage! Let AI support your workflow, not replace your perspective.
You can use tools to help with captions, calendars, or even formatting. But the soul of your work? That’s yours. That’s your sacred gift to share with the world.
The future of food blogging might be full of bots—but there’s still room for real.
So keep showing up. Keep writing like someone’s sitting at your kitchen table. Keep teaching through taste, memory, and story.
Because the one thing AI will never be is you.
